Each year on the night before the Christmas holidays, the school has ventured to the Lewis’ property in Chelsea for a Creche, letting the children act out the Nativity by the lake.  Because of the weather we had to cancel this year.  So when our other winter tradition was in the works (our Epiphany celebration), Continue Reading

Cereta Lanier’s aunt, Ms. Pat, brought a number of the quilts she had made through the years to show to the school.  One was a crazy quilt her grandmother made over 100 years ago.  The seventh grade girls got to try their hand at quilting.

Below are some examples of nature study work that our children put together.  They use a dry brush technique with water color to observe and study various nature finds.  Each student keeps a nature journal.  Also, in Mrs. Deter’s class, the students used the color from radishes to paint radishes…red from the radish, green from Continue Reading

Did you know that a hand crafted replica of the Nina and Pinta are once again sailing in the New World?  They have found their way up the Tennessee River and last week landed in Florence, Alabama.  How could we not go see that?   You can follow their discoveries at www.thenina.com.

Monday morning found us walking in the rain through Caldwell Park, while Greg and Helena of the Audubon Society gave helpful guidance in spotting and identifying our bird neighbors.  It was a study of nature…and a little human nature.  Here are some of the images of the day:
